NAMING THE KEYS ON A KEYBOARD
Starting on ther left side of an 88 key
keyboard the white key
names are: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, A, B, C, D, E, F, G,
A, B, C, D, E, F, G, A, B, MIDDLE C.
This also is the C scale. C, D, E, F, G, A, B.
Notice that there are 7 tones in the scale.
C is the first tone, D the second, E the third,
F the fourth, G the fifth. A the sixth,
B the seventh, C first again.
A full tone step has a tone between it
and the next tone. a 1/2 tone increment
has no tone between it and the next tone.
All scales are the same with 1/2 tone
between the 3rd and 4th and 1/2 tone
between the 7th and 8th(1st tone).
1/2 tone up is #(sharp), while 1/2 tone down
is b(flat). So C# is also Db and D# = Eb.
A Major chord consists of the 1st 3rd and
5th tone of a scale. So C Major is C, E, G
C# Major is C#, F, G#.
